Two recent Reggae releases--Youssou N’Dour’s “Dakar-Kingston” (2010) and Ziggy Marley’s “Wild and Free” (2011)--reminded me of the power and uplifting spirit of Reggae music. The seed was planted for this mix, although it took a while for it to grow.
The first track on N’Dour’s album, “Marley,” describes how Bob Marley’s music is revered all around the world, and I used that track as a starting point for this mix. It consists of a bunch of new and old, great Reggae tunes from around the world.
For me Reggae music is associated with sunshine and warmth, which explains the title of the mix. This will be my Summer 2012 mix.
